Message on 'Class Allocations'

MBA classes have priority use of the classrooms on the 5th floor of B-block. These executive-style classrooms have powerpoints for laptops at every seat, however, the number of seats in these rooms is limited and this makes it imperative that you allocate yourself to the class that you want to be in, before the maximum class size is reached. In most cases the maximum size for classes held on Level 5 will now be 45 students. Once the class limit is reached, you must select another class time (e.g. the day class of a core unit) or a different elective unit to enrol in. Class limits must be imposed due to health and safety regulations, but limiting class sizes will also tend to increase the quality of your classroom experience. Most classes have capacity for a few more than 45 students - these extra seats may be used to accommodate students who MUST have the particular unit in order to graduate.

General Student Notices

Please find the A-Z of general student notices below

Academic credit

Students who have completed postgraduate studies may be entitled to receive Academic Credit or Exemptions for their previous studies.

Students who have completed undergraduate studies may be entitled to receive Substitutions for their previous studies. In both cases, application forms may be obtained from the Faculty of Business Student Enquiries Centre on Level 1 in B Block. Please remember that incorrect, incomplete or insufficient applications will not be assessed or will be rejected. The more relevant information you can provide about your previous studies, the more likely it is that you will receive a timely reply.

Requests for credit or substitution MUST be submitted a minimum of four weeks before studies are to commence for any given teaching period.

Blackboard Sites

The web site for the Blackboard Teaching facility is http://blackboard.qut.edu.au/. Links to Blackboard sites for units in which you are enrolled are available through QUT Virtual.

If you withdraw from a unit, there is a delay in removing your access to that unit's Blackboard site. This does not indicate that the online enrolment system has not registered your withdrawal from that unit.

Please refer to Blackboard site for each unit for the following services:

Class Allocations

The availability of a place in a class is on a first-in, first-served basis. As class sizes are limited, allocation ensures that you can attend the class most convenient to you. Please use the Class Allocation System (CAS), which is available through your QUT Virtual personal profile, to nominate which class you will attend for each unit that you are enrolled in.

Breakout rooms

There are eight breakout rooms available for MBA students for group or individual study located on Level 4, B Block. Access into these rooms is on a first come first served basis. These rooms cannot be booked and are to be monitored by the students themselves.

Calendar of events
